hello family!!
Well it was a good week. Lots of time kind of flew by with traveling to the small towns, but it was a good week. So we started teaching JP, he is 18 and the son of a member, and he just came from Peru a week ago. SO we taught him about the restoration, and them invited them to come to conference. They didn't really have money to go, so we said we’d talk to the branch president to see what we could do. Then JP told him mom to call us to see what was happening (so he really wanted to go) and the president said yeah, the branch could pay for it. So they both went and really liked it. so that was really good.
So one thing I've learned on the mission is patience. Not just in tolerating, but in doing as well. So we were contacting for a few hours, and didn't really get anything. So the human mind would think, well this is getting no where, so lets stop. But we didn't. Kept talking to people. Then with about twenty minutes left we ran into some really cool africans. One was a family and another was a single man. They could only meet the weekends, and with general conference we couldn't meet. But they seemed interested. So its important in life to keep doing what we are supposed to do, even if we don’t see the results. But God says he will bless us if we do what’s right. Maybe no immediately and thats why faith is necessary, to keep onward. Even if things don’t go right immediately, it we continue, it will all go well in the end.
So general conference was really good. Seems like they talked a lot about pleasing God, and not man. I cant remember who it was, but i like the talk about how we cant rationalize our decisions. We can’t fear man, or fall into peer pressure, or fear change. But we need to do what’s right in the moment no matter what. I really liked how they gave talked in their language as well. The Spanish talk was really good. I watched that one in Spanish, and it was so much better than with just a translator. The translator just isn't the same.
So i saw travis as well at conference. First time in more than a year i think. Kind of funny we came here together, thought we would see each other alot, but we haven't. haha.
I also saw Nena there (from madrid, she got baptized after I left) that was really cool. She is doing well and was excited to see me. And i also say a less active from the Philippines from b5. We never got her to come to church, but she came to conference now, so that was cool.
So on Saturday we woke up earlier to go running with Pablo, and then haydee came on a bike. We weren't planning on going that far, so we went to the gardens here. And the fields. So we went, and just kept going until the end. The we say a golf course so Pablo said lets go find the entrance. so we ran a bit looking for that. We found it after a while, and asked how much it was and its only 10 euros for 18 holes, but they dont rent clubs, so well have to figure that out. So then we went a different way back, four fruit fields with watermellon and other fruits. And kept going back. In all we ran for an hour and a half. Don’t know how, but we did.
So M. is still good. He was going to come to conference but he didn't in the end, I'm not sure why.
The empanadas were really good. I remember how do to it. Its pretty simple actually. Flour, butter, baking powder, eggs, milk, then what ever filling you want. He is going to make them Saturday for the activity so ill write things down that time.
Sounds like an exciting time in new York. Thats cool you got to go the the ringing of the bell. That would be pretty crazy working there every day. Seems really odd that the founder would wear a hat and t shirt. For a formal thing. oh well. Thats funny she was doing a Facebook tests while he was talking. Guess you'll never forget your phone now. All the things you can be entertained with during a boring talk.
Thats good they both did well. Kyle said he wants to do it next year. Well as i probably will spend more time golfing than running, ill still run lots. Cant golf early in the morning. It'd be cool to qualify for Boston. I could do it. I’ll just train with Kyle lots.
Thats cool you'll stay at the branch presidents house. Is he the one in Austria or where at? None of my branch presidents speak english. But the district president in Vigo does (steak president, and he lives in Vigo)
I cant really think of anything. I did but now i cant remember what it was to send. Oh well. And i did get the waffle iron. It surprised me lots. Thank you. We have made waffles. They turned out well. Just threw things together and it turned out. And put Nutello on the top. And the smoke detector is up as well. dont worry.
Well thats a good time, especially after all of the traveling. So did you sign me up for the race? Or the runners series? Well Kyle said he wants to do it, i just said it'll be good for ya, and make you look good, so he is going to do it i guess. That'll be fun. Well i will train more next year for the marathon, it'd be cool to qualify for Boston. but under 3:30 would be good. So i guess tanya or devon didn't do the marathon. Devon for his knee I'm guessing. And tanya, just no i guess.
I was a lot better hearing the Spanish dude (well he wasn't from Spain, but Spanish speaking) speak in Spanish, than translating. I watched that session in Spanish, and his talk was really good. The translators just aren't the same as the speakers. Its a cool thing they are doing.
love you
love elder kinghorn
