hello family.
so this week was good. with christmas and everything. lots of food and happiness. so exciting thing of the week we went the the cathedral at santiago where James is supposedly buried. so we were just walking around the cathedral and these two men (who are high up in the church) stopped us and asked what we were doing here, and we said just looking around, and they asked if we were going to stay for mass, (which started in like 45 minutes) and we said i dont know, then he kicked us out. like got the security guards to come and escort us out. so they kicked us out. weird things about the catholic church. who knows. its a cool looking cathedral though. apparently James washed up on the shores in two big shells, so there are shells all over the city. like emblems of it of stone and what not, not actual shells.
so we were just passing by some people and we went to this piso. but she no longer lived there, but another man did, named JC. and he seemed super excited to see us, so we made an appointment to pass by yesterday. he was there and he seems super good. he couldnt come to church tomorrow but next week he said he would. and he said he wants to meet every saturday so that is super good. so J he is a son of a member family who never was baptized. we have been teaching him and he never really seems to interested, yesterday we had a good lesson about the i importance of the book of Mormon but he still just seems like not paying too much attention. he said he would read every day but it wasnt a super firm commitment. so we want to just meet with him one on one but he wants his family there, and its just difficult.
so an elder in our piso elder Johnson in going home Monday, so everyone has invited the four of us over the next few days, and his bus to madrid leaves Wednesday at midnight. so we will be out quite late, which will be strange. so the big new years thing is to eat twelve grapes for each chime. so basically swallowing them whole. maybe we will try that at 11 because we probably wont stay up till twelve.
how did you get away with only one dessert at christmas? is that even possible. did you do anything different to the fillets? you should perfect it so you can make it later as well. thats a lot of singing. for whatever reason people always want the missionaries to sing. most of us dont have the best of voice and have a different accent than normal, but they ask us so we always sing. well i guess you might sing wrong then. oh well. no one in the family sings to well.
i guess tanya and Kevin had to go back then. that'll be fun with brick and Laura though. that sounds exciting going to Tahiti. except all of the cold weather. that is quite cheap. for food and living alone thats well expensive for good. maybe if you go on more you can get it down to like 400 dollars for a cruise. that would be good.
the people eat twelve grapes one for each chime. so you have to basically swallow the grapes whole. and there is something with luck involved as well. like you get good luck if you do it right or bad for wrong, i dont remember. it was nice talking to all of you as well. hey so Lisa is coming to Spain? where to?
well happy new year to everyone and have a wonderful week
