March 3, 2014

hello family

so this week has been good (i feel like i always start out by saying that so lets try a different thing)

greetings from alcorcon.  today we saw a ferrari with the stig driving.  well not really but its gets some excitement.  haha but we actually did see a corvette.

so all is well.  so L. is just amazing.  she is already in Mosiah 5 after one week.  she actually stayed up reading the book instead of sleeping.  wow.  sadly none of them came to church.  she was working lots again.  so hopefully she can talk to her boss this week and change something.  so we went over there saturday and she made us some more heavenly Brazilian food, then we watched the restoration.  and she and J. were both watching intently.  he is coming along little by little.  this week he said is L. goes to church he will go with her.  and we invited L. to be baptized on the 29th of march.  and if she can sort something our with work she will totally be baptized.  she is like our mom here.  when we were saying good bye she gave us a hug.  i didnt know what to do so i hugged her back.  haha.  dont know if thats legal but it just happened.

So Elder Teixiera came and spoke to us this week for the mission tour.  he is the area president for all of Europe.  he is form Portugal.  he actually has a cool conversion story.  some missionaries were knocking a building and saw a light in another one.  had a feeling to go and knock it so they went over.  is was elder Teixieras uncle.  and they started teaching him.  and within a few months all of his family were baptized.  41 baptisms in all!  lots of stake presidents, bishops, a seventy and countless missionaries have come from that now.  but one thing he said was that on your mission dont waste time.  in 40 years you can look back on your mission like he can, and see all of the fruits that come from in, or you can look back and saw i really fooled around.  it motivated me to give it my all.  so one suggestion he had to find more people is to find through your progression investigators.  to ask if they can pray for their friends, and ask if you can help their friends.  so that night we went to visit M. (a less active) and she had a lot of friends over.  Y. from the dominican republic.  so we taught her as well.  and then she came to english class the the branch family home evening.  she looks like she is 20 but she is actually 35.  kind of crazy but yeah.  so we are excited to find through the people we already know and try that more.

so one less active we teach his name is C.  he is actually blind.  and it is so weird teaching him because he is blind.  so you dont have to look at him.  and you know he isnt looking at you.  its a totally different feeling.  so M and C (the porte rican and her husband) and still doing fine.  just waiting to get their marriage papers.  we ate with them yesterday and it was a ton of food.  so also his sister and her husband we are teaching.  but sadly they are not married.  but they also came to church!  we watch the restoration video with them and it was super good.  talked about it afterward and they really want to know more.  and they also read!  so that is super good.  M.  said the gospel has really brought her family together.  and i know it can for R and H as well.  thats what the gospel does.  its meant for families.  i love teaching families.

so i finished reading the new testament this week.  it was super good.  and after reading that and the book of mormon no one can say the book of mormon isnt true.  they teach the exact same things.  at the same time i am so grateful for the book of Mormon because it clarifies so many things, and contains the fullness of the gospel of jesus christ.  also i was reading in d and c when the 116 pages are lost.  and the punishment for Joseph was not being able to translate the book of Mormon for a while.  thinking about that.  the punishment was not being able to take part in the lords work.  are we the same as Joseph?  do we have the same desire that he does do be in this work.  that we dont want to do anything else, that it would be a punishment if we were able to.  ¨shall we not go forth is so great a cause i know this is a great cause and the lords work.  have a good week.

wow.  well some things have changed.  haha.  sounds like dad will be quite busy.  guess he just cant leave greg or jan.  haha.  sounds like greg really wanted dad to join.  dad is a very hard worker, I've always admired that about him.  well sounds like he wont have as much free time to go to St. George whenever now.  the employee room is nice at vivant is he can use it.  i went there with Kevin once when we went to pick up their mercury.  so at L´s yesterday we ate something that started with a q.  i cant remember what it is called.  we had them though it that really cool old cafeteria place in rio.  they were really good.  she is like our mom here.  thats kind of funny with the cadillac.  not sure how he drew the conclusion either.  but oh well.  its different having one (and he even showed his love for his family) and coveting one and worshiping it.  oh well.  im sure mike and Paul would give dad a hard time.  haha.  oh mike is funny.  he would make comments like that about valentines day.  thats good dad got him.  dad is funny.  he is pretty competitive.  sounds like Kevin wants to break 4 hours.  maybe ill have catching up to do there, and maybe at golf as well.  we will see i guess.  bruno is a funny dog.  i can totally imagine that.  hey so after reading revelation and the bible dictionary about the book it says animals will be resurrected.  so thats really good.  heaven wouldn't be heaven without our dogs.  so i was reading the talk by elder Christopherson about women and their role, and i just though of you and how you fulfill your role as a mother.  thank you for doing that for us.
