April 21, 2014

April 21, 2014
hello family.

so this week we got L. scriptures, and wrote a dedication in the front of the book.  so when we gave it to her, and she started reading it she started to cry.  and she couldn't even finish reading.  she just put it down and said she would read it later, otherwise she would just start balling.  she is just an amazing person.  her husband does support her, and understands everything.  he always has some silly reason for not praying.  so this week he was fishing, and he sun burnt his chest pretty bad, so his excuse was that god punished him and burned him so he wouldst pray.  always some silly excuse.  he is a funny dude.  so we were talking to L. about baptism, and she says she believes in everything, her only problem is time.  but she is thinking of quitting her jobs, and opening a chicken shop, she she could have sunday off.  so thats good.  she just is doing everything she can so she can be baptized.  she is a miracle.

we also found the filipinos again.  we say them in the street and set up a lesson for saturday night.  so we went over and watched the restoration video in tagalog.  so that was fun.  didnt understand, like anything.  Found out god is Dios, most numbers are the same, and Joseph is Joseph.  and thats about all.  and jesus christ is Jesu Cristo.  just like spanish.  and we got them a book of mormon in tagalog as well.  so thats good.  they are really loving people.  and they can really progress.  they also came to church the next day.  so we are excited to continue teaching them.  church was kind of odd though.  there wasnt one reference to easter.  like not one work.  why?  its the most important event in all of human history, and there wasnt a talk, or a song, or lesson, or anything.

MJ and C. are still doing well.  we heard a bit more of their story the other day.  when they meet the missionaries they were having problems.  they didnt want to be in the house together, and they didnt really love each other any more, and they wanted to separate.  and they said if they didnt meet the missionaries they would have been separated by now.  but now they love each other again, and they want to be together, and they go to church together, and read the scriptures together.  `they have really changed their lives.  how they dress, how they act, think, everything.  the gospel really brings families together.  then Cs´ sister and her novio,  they aren't married either and have a kid.  we talked to them about marriage, and at first they just started to argue with each other, how there is no love anymore, and they want to separate.  i dont really understand what people think marriage here.  just 5 or 10 years have a kid and leave and do it all again with another person.  no.  that is wrong.  families are for ever.  but by the end the lesson was good.  we invited them to just try these things, and try to work things out.  and they came to church (he actually left because the child was so rowdy, like screaming the whole entire time, turning off lights running, so sadly he left.  but at least they came. )

lots of people couldn't meet this week because its holy week.  everyone is busy.  more parades in the streets. and everyone is feeling Catholic.  so random story so we were coming back from the temple, and the train stopped, and told us all to get off. so we got off and started to wait for the next one, then we realized the next few stops were closed, so we decided to just go up and eat, because we were all starving, so like 90 minutes later it started working again, so we finally go back to our area.  so it took us like 3 hours to finally get back.  but we finally did it.

Madrid and Barca played the other day.  and it was kind of cool walking in the streets you could hear when madrid scored.  screaming all over.  we meet with a Ukrainian the other day.  and he offered us coffee like 5 times.  I've never said no so many times.  and it was the very first visit, she he didnt know about Joseph smith or anything, so he didnt really understand, but we ended up just having fanta.

i honestly didnt think emily would survive that long.  at byu, and lady like her, i thought she would have been married by now.  but i guess she isnt.  maybe they will.  who knows.  well thats good chairs are coming soon.  just a few years late, but at least they are coming.  no more splinters.  haha.

the game is on Wednesday.  and we were thinking of going.  what you do is you just make up the time lost on the next pday.  so if we leave here at 7, we just end three hours earlier on the next pday to start proselyting.  we were going to go, but we found out the tickets were ridiculously expensive.  140 euros for the cheapest seat.  so like 200 dollars for way up high.  and its a huge stadium, like 90,000 bit.  so way up high.  it would have been sweet to go though.  maybe another time.  the mission president went to one, the final on the spanish league, between the two madrid teams, and he said it was the coolest sports event he has ever been to.  so ill definatly go to some game.

they cant really pronounce kinghorn.  but its really nice they named a cat after me.  and they named another one after my comp.  my comp this is his third transfer.

mom, im really really grateful for your example you have given me in my life.  that you and dad together have founded our home in christ, and have made the home a refuge for the world.  i to know we can be forgiven of our sins.  and that the tomb is empty.  that christ conquered all death, and sin, and all the horrors that satan has ever inflicted upon man.  and we can also conquer these things with the help of christ.  i have felt the powers of the atonement in my life, and for that reason i am here now, so other can feel the same power of the atonement.

well as it was easter last week we were sharing the easter message in some visits.  and read john 20, where Mary finds jesus.  and she realized that jesus has been resurrected.  its such a wonderful story.  i cant even imagine those three days the apostles what they were feeling.  that christ was dead.  but what joy they must have felt when they knew that has was risen.  that knowledge is the centerpiece for the whole universe.  the atonement of christ.  i know that christ loves us, and paid for all of our sins.  all of the horrors of satan, and all the wickedness, and suffering and sorrow, everything christ conquers.  all because he loves us.  and because of christ we can be forgiven of our sins.  every single one of them.  there is no point of no return, christ hand is always there for us.  always.  it is sufficient for all.  i know we can become clean and be resurrected one day.
i love you

love elder kinghorn
