First of all, that mouse story is gross. I don’t like mice much. There are a bunch of moths in our apartment.
I’m learning the language more and more every day. The two south americans in the apartment get along really well. I get along well with the other american and the other two as well. It’s just that the american speaks english.
Missionary work is all about loving the people. The first commandment is about love, and the basic unit on the earth is the family, and that is what the plan of salvation revolves around.
The lady I committed to baptism found work in Madrid so that is good, but she has not come to church, so we have been trying to get her to come. Hopefully next week she will.
This week has been cold. I have worn my coat every day. Not my suit jacket, my coat. Spain is supposed to be warm, but alas it is not. We starting teaching a new investigator Y. She has read everything we have given to her, she has watched two movies. We first taught her the plan of salvation and later found out her brother passed away recently. We also gave her the video about temples, how work can also be done for the dead. She came to church today and is really progressing. She also brought her novio to church.
We also found a lady Saturday sitting on the bench. She doesn’t attend any church, but studies the scriptures. She said the other day she was looking for the truth. We talked to her for about 30 minutes and have a lesson with her tonight.
One cool thought from Jesus the Christ about faith and works is when Jesus cast out devils from people, the spirits said “I know though art the Christ”, but that obviously does not save them. We need to show our faith.
I just about ran out of food this week. I’ve had a lot of peanut butter and honey sandwiches. I made bread the other day, just with no yeast. It actually turned out all right. I would never make it at home, but for having no food it was all right. Well, most things are good with parmesan cheese in it though.
I have more photos. You can look at those. Did another intercambio but just with the american in the piso. So I didn’t travel anywhere, but it was good. We had one lesson, but just contacted other than that.
There was a big soccer match the other day, I think the final for the spanish league so nobody was in the streets. Also yesterday they have Kids Day here. It’s like Mothers Day but kids. They closed a busy street and there were a bunch of blow up play things and what not. If I have learned nothing else on my mission except for one thing, it’s that families are really important. They can be together forever, and it is the highest ordinance in the temple. We need temple marriage. I didn’t realize how much I love you until I was separated from you. But we can be together forever.
Thats sounds exciting you can help the sisters with family history. During my mission the temple seems so much more sacred. It’s basically a place where we are missionaries.
Just think of when you first got your calling you were not excited at all and thought, ‘What do i even do?” You might be changing lives. Every calling is important in the church. I remember a talk by Pres. Uchdorf during priesthood session entitled Lift Where You Stand. It was a good one. We need everyone in the church.
I love you a lot. But its only two years. That’s nothing compared to eternity. We can be together forever. It’s already May 20th. It’s already been 2 months since I left. That’s a twelfth of the way finished.
Well I love all of you.
Love, Elder Jason Kinghorn
